Rodd & Stackhouse - Trees - a visual guide
This is one of the most enjoyable tree books I have come across. It covers such a wide range of aspects - botany, diversity and adaptation and the communities they support, through to our uses. A very wide range is covered from deserts with their cacti and other succulent plants through more conventional woods in temperate and tropical areas to swamps, and includes palms, tree ferns, baobabs and so much more both familiar and less well known. Although only of modest size the treatment isn’t superficial, and it is well illustrated with masses of colour photos, and all attractively presented. Tremendous value, and the front cover doesn’t do the book justice! 2008 9 x 9 304 pages
